The Designers
 

 

 
Lisa Jayne Dann

Described as the "Queen of Leeds independent Fashion" Lisa’s designs certainly pack a punch in the style stakes and recently won her accolade of the "Leeds Independent Retail Awards" Designer of the Year. Lisa unique pieces have also gained her a huge celebrity fan base who love Lisa’s impeccably stylish designs.


So what inspires Lisa? “I want women of all ages to feel the best they can. I use influences from past, current and future trends on the catwalk to create a unique and obtainable style. Sumptuous colours and vintage references inspire me within my work and I love to mix them with classic touches. I hope to provide the wearer with not only an eye catching, quality well cut garment, but also give them that special something extra that will keep them reaching for it over and over again....a timeless classic, and a much loved and cherished ‘best friend’."

 

 

Nico Ni  

All Nico Ni jewellery is hand crafted by independent designer Nicole Leech. Each piece is personally designed and is made to enhance the personality of the owner. This enables each design to have a chic glow that will become a treasured item.

Nicole launched her collection ‘Nico Ni’ at the beginning of 2010. She says: “I follow fashion religiously and I’ve always had a great obsession with jewellery. I have been making facial and body pieces for myself and a few select friends for a number years having been inspired by my travels, especially my visit to Brazil. The people express themselves so creatively there. When I started to get a wider circle of interest I began to feel that something exciting was happening and consequently created the brand. There are not many people who are privileged to run a business based on their creative passion so to be handpicked for this exhibition is a real privilege."

 

 

 

Bo Carter  

Born in Poland, Bo Cater is a self taught designer who after travelling the world finally settled in the UK. Her stunning designs are produced from inspiration acquired during her travels. In essence, her designs are focused on a desire to fulfil her dream of dressing women and men to make them feel special and are about catching the eye of a detail along with the outfit as a whole. Bo loves to experiment with various fabrics to add that special edge to Victorian style, with an emphasis on putting extra time into each garment – making sure they are totally unique.

 

 

Katie Newsam  

Katie Newsam is a freelance fashion designer based in Yorkshire. Having completed a fashion design course at college, Katie went on to graduate from the University of Lincoln in Summer 2009 with a degree in fashion studies. Since graduating Katie has been commissioned to create designs for a top salon in Lincoln to be used at their anniversary catwalk show and various hair styling particles.

Katie subsequently showed her 'Toxic Mechanics' collection at a fashion show at the Valmont Club in Chelsea in May 2010. She then created her 'Tribe' collection which was shown along with 'Toxic Mechanics' at the IHEARTFASHION show launch at Bush Hall in London in August 2010 where she was the headline designer. On 18th September 2010, both collections were shown at the Urban Music Awards in London which was broadcast internationally. Katie is set to be one of the most in-demand designers to emerge onto the scene.

 

 

By Natalia  

Natalia Colman is a Fashion Stylist and Jewellery Designer. Each piece in the 'By Natalia' collection is designed by Natalia and many pieces are handmade. Each piece has a special meaning and is set in either sterling or fine silver as it has healing qualities and is said to mirror the soul. A variety of rich and wonderful materials in are used in the 'By Natalia' collection, such as wood, leather, pearls, glass and coral. Natalia says "My passion for jewellery led me to create my own designs which I hope you will love looking at and wearing as much as I do. I believe that the jewellery we choose and wear is very special, so I hope you will treasure your own pieces of jewellery by Natalia for many years to come".

 

 

Klue by Kelly-Ann

Kelly-Ann is a fashion couture designer who designs, makes and produces one off couture pieces. Every garment is produced with love and care.

The Kelly-Ann Couture Fashion line is a range that has been designed and made to create a unique and individual style - every dress is one of a kind.

 

 

Nicola Dann

Leeds based Nicola Dann is an Independent designer of leather handmade handbags & accessories. Her range of unique and beautifully handmade bags and accessories oooze with style, character and originality. With well-made, affordable pieces that reflect both wearability and inventiveness in the designs, you’re guaranteed to stand out from the crowd with these statement bags. Described as a 'tactile fusion of leather and fabric', every bag is different from the next because each is lovingly hand made by Nicola herself.

Nicola gained a BA in Designed metalwork and Jewellery at Buckinghamshire University, where she showcased her first unique collection of expandable shot silk bags embellished with pressed silver detailing. After 4 years working as a retail manager Nicola turned her focus back to her love of designing and creating handbags.

 

 

Ringlit*

Specialising in re-styled vintage clothing and accessories, Ringlit* has a strong ethical policy and all collections are made in Britain. All of Ringlit*s collections exude style and individuality and are perfect for special occasions where you want to stand out from the crowd.

Laura Butler, designer and founder of Ringlit*, has a strong background of industry knowledge. Graduating from Leeds College of Art (2004) with a degree in fashion/clothing, Laura went on to achieve four years experience as a garment technician. Working with small businesses during the latter three years Laura also gained experience in merchandising, shipping, sales and commercial design. Today Laura’s focus is establishing Ringlit* as a unique brand concept.

 

 

René K  

Lancashire based Fashion Designer and Lecturer Carrie-Ann René K is rebranding the underground ladies wear label ‘René Boutique’, now to be known as ‘René K’, to coincide with their prestigious new Parisian style design studios in Burnley, Lancashire. Launched in Spring/Summer 2003, ladieswear label René K (formerly 'René Boutique') was set up by self-taught fashion designer Carrie-Ann René K. Her unique, progressive, cutting edge designs have gained the label a loyal following across the UK and Japan. The René philosophy is simple. It is one of individuality and innovation. With each piece of clothing hand-made in the design studios in limited numbers, clients can be assured that what they are wearing is totally unique and extremely hard to come by.
